Full Moon in Virgo - 8th March 2012
The Moon in all her phases reflects the light of the Sun, representative of reason, logic and masculine energy. The Moon represents the light we must follow when reason fails us. It is intuitive, reflective and receptive……. a feminine energy, available to everyone of any persuasion.
So, when we are talking about the Moon we are focusing in on our gut feelings but also on our attitude, our decisions and how we carry them out.
Moving from the fiery energy of the Leo Moon last month we have now come down to earth. Since the New Moon two weeks ago, we have probably been creating plans and setting them in motion or at least, planning to set them in motion.
This is a time to really get things done, to create lists and tick them off as things get done.
We are restless. Worry is a feature of this sign as we wonder what might go wrong, if it is good enough and if it is possible to achieve all this. All these things have probably been there all along but with the Virgoan eye for detail we will be seeing things we didn’t see before.
Feelings of insecurity are also a feature of this sign as we pick on all the things we think are wrong with us, so we need to remember who we are, draw on the appreciation we will have received in the Leo Moon cycle, and see the contributions we are making to the world around us.
During this cycle we do feel more motivated to achieve our goals and live into our potential. Virgo offers the natural gifts of common sense and the ability to see the reality of the situation, but it also carries the spirit of the ideal (opposite sign Pisces) so there is a restlessness energy being caught between the ideal and the practical.
Virgo wants to be of service, wants to “fix things up” and in a practical way make a measurable difference in the lives of ourselves and others.
The highest “ask” of us this month is to think of ourselves as raw material ready to be used and shaped through our efforts, and where necessary, acquire the skills to make a real contribution.
What is Life asking of me?
What is my practical contribution in service to Life?
What needs me, particularly, to heal it or “fix” it?
As we develop our list of things to do in this time, we are likely to feel somewhat overwhelmed. Stand back, we have time and they don’t all have to be done in the next two weeks. Prioritize in real Virgo fashion and remember that we have all the tools we need just by being who we are.
We can be aware of harmful inner critics at this time too and cultivate the ability to turn the volume down so that we can get on with the tasks at hand.

Full Moon in Capricorn 15th July 2011
With Full Moon in Sagittarius last month we looked at “what could be”.
With the advent of the Solstice we entered into the process of drawing on our learnings from the past and imagining how our personal creations and offerings could assist others and our planet.
We were brutally honest in evaluating whether our offerings enhance or are actually detrimental for evolution and growth on the planet.
We dived into the unknown of our dreams and imagination giving our beliefs a chance to develop.
We explored the idea of living from our true Identity.
What was YOUR experience of that process? What ideas emerged that have stayed with you and that you feel are workable.
What ideas are linked to change on a large scale?
As we noted last time the moon represents our “attitude”. Our attitude underlies all our decisions and most importantly, how we carry them out.
So, this month, Career and Social Status are highlighted with stress, both positive and negative, in career areas and partnerships. What occurs during this time has actually been building up for some time and it now reaches the fullness of that process, or “comes to light”.
It could be stressful in a negative sense or it could entail a change in status like getting married, getting promoted or in some other way, your place in the scheme of things, changes.
The inspiration of the Sagittarius Moon fades now as we seek to control the environment and give structure to our ideas. There is some concern, even fear as there is a sense of the largeness of the Sagittarian phase and the fear of not being able to make sense of it all and a fear of failure.
So, step by step, how do you give form your vision?
Can you recognize what you are personally able to achieve and what you need to pass on or share with someone else?
What are the steps required to make the dream achievable?
What is the time frame you have set yourself?
How will it be and feel when it is achieved?
Now is the time to create strong foundations, set in stone the basis of your ideas and to start building them brick by brick. If these foundations are properly set there is nothing you cannot achieve.
Full Moon - April 18, 2011
The Full Moon represents the culmination of a cycle, and of course, the beginning of a new one. The Moon has carried the impulse of the Sun in Aries as “far” as it can go. Whatever has happened or been produced from New Moon to this point, whether successfully or not, it brings illumination and objective realization and is therefore useful to the next phase.
In Libra, the full Moon is about relationships.
What about our relationships has come full circle?
What about our relationships is dying away, letting go to something completely new?
What is our relationship with our self like?
Is there something that needs to have a light shone on it, be reflected to us, or that we are not seeing?
Have we given away our “self” to blend with the other?
Have we given up a certain uniqueness to allow for compromise?
Something is waiting to be born in us. There are new opportunities arising at a time when life is asking a whole lot more of us than it did last year. As all the old systems we have lived by for hundreds of years break down to make way for a totally new order, how are we viewing relationships, partnerships and our responsibility and commitments to them and to humanity as a whole?
Our life on earth, our sojourn, is about having dominion over our particular piece of the world, our particular domain. What does that mean to us and how can we look at it differently, more creatively, in a way that serves life and not just ourselves?
This is not about a service that requires that we prostitute ourselves, martyr ourselves or give up any part of ourselves. It is rather about how we work with the new emerging system, how we are attuned to it as we would be to a lover, how we listen for every nuance, every shift and movement in this direction or that, and respond accordingly.
This is walking side by side with Spirit as the new energies flood the earth, how can we serve that, how can we enhance that, how can we BE that?
It is no longer about waiting for something or someone out there but about giving the Spirit form ourselves.
New opportunities abound, and are waiting in the wings to be given life. It is up to us to initiate them. The planet and the life within it is reeling with the phenomenal changes that are taking place moment by moment. It requires a holding on our part. It requires awareness and a dominion, not a “power over”. As we have been made aware, we have no “power over”, but we can steward the new life in the place we find each ourselves in now. It is a time to remember who we are, to BE who we are without compromise. It is not a time for judgment and punishment for what we have or haven’t done, it is a time to hold the process and walk with it with love and compassion for all of life, our relationship to Life itself.
In our fear, the tendency is to destroy, make war, hold onto what is “mine” seek to blame and find fault. We can see that all around us.
Breathe.
Let the purity and sacredness of new life flood our cells and souls. This is the time we came for, let’s find a way to be with it as we dream a new pattern for the future of Life on this planet.
NOW IS THE TIME TO DREAM!
Now is the time to Dream!
As Uranus made the transition from Pisces into Aries on the 12th of March 2011, it represented a birth moment.
We know the importance of a birth moment. We know it sets up a pattern which is imprinted on us and seems to have an impact on us for the best part of our lives.
In our own lives the experience of this moment is largely forgotten and therefore unconscious, but every time we begin something new, we tend to repeat that experience.
The experience instills in us certain beliefs and assumptions which we carry without question largely because we are unaware of them.
Now we have a different opportunity. An opportunity to consciously create the patterns in this global birth moment that will form and inform our future as one of the species on this planet.
Unconscious beliefs and attitudes are passed down from parent to child without us being aware of them until we begin the journey of exploring our motivations and beginning the process of genuinely unpacking our own thoughts and beliefs.
What choices will we make now in our work and in our lives?
So much is being asked of us but what a wonderful opportunity to do something of enormous value.
The planet herself is undergoing a rebirth, probably not the first, and seemingly for all its inhabitants, a rebirth in consciousness. As consciousness rises we need to dream our future. A new pattern needs to be set with consciousness which ensures the survival of all the species as Earth experiences her own transformation.
What is your personal dream for our planet and our future?
What can we envision for a better world, a world of compassion and care, of dominion, not power and greed?
What can each one of us do, in our work, in our practices, in our lives to create a new pattern, a new way of conducting business, a new way of educating the young, of conducting relationships based on integrity and financial systems that deal with the enormous levels of poverty in the world.
When will we realize that the “somebody out there” is actually you and I, and we are responsible for that pattern, each and every one of us.
Now IS the time to dream, to create a vision for your life that serves Life. It requires you to do nothing more than be your true self, and that requires everything. It is no mean task to stand up as your true self in the face of hundreds of years of patterning that denies your power and beauty.
Create a vision beyond anything you have ever dreamed. The time is now.
EARTHQUAKE IN JAPAN - WHAT IT MEANS TO US
It is nearly impossible not to be impacted in some way by the devastation we have seen in Japan this weekend.
How can we be the same again after experiencing that?
How does someone involved in it make sense of it and ever fully recover?
It takes a giant leap in consciousness to see a value in it and yet perhaps there is some greater understanding behind it all.
Why, we might ask, must there be a meaning behind it?
My answer, to myself, is that this world was born out of a place of infinite Love. Such love is beyond our human comprehension and when one looks at the exquisite mathematical and scientific accuracy of this creation, one cannot but believe there is more to this than is readily apparent.
I am not attempting to argue or prove that point, just to note that it is from this place that my thinking arises.
How interesting to note that at the recorded moment of the earthquake, Uranus, which in Esoteric Astrology represents the Divine Mind, made the transition from the sign of Pisces into Aries. Under its influence, intuition is heightened, the urge to change an established order is quickened, and the aspiration to better the human condition is stimulated.
Under the Aries influence, a new cycle of increased consciousness is born. Are we are being asked to innovate in whatever field of endeavor we serve our fellow man?
A higher consciousness is emerging across the planet.
With the build up of pressure underground and then a final release in the form of an earthquake, our consciousness is breaking through on another level and as our attention is focused out there, away from our own small lives, our compassion and concern for others is aroused, stimulated and given life.
Whatever is happening out there, is also happening within us.
Many of us may have experienced a physical sensation or grief as the event connected us to cell memories of ancient cataclysms of the past.
I was reminded of the story of Noah which, incidentally, is recorded in some way in many different cultures. He too went through something very similar.
Noah was “instructed” probably via his intuition, to build a window in the very top of the ark. By doing so he was able to keep his eyes turned upwards and maintain his connection to Spirit. This is probably what kept him going in what must have been similarly dark and terrifying times.
So, what I get from all this is that it is no longer about “me” and it is all about “us”, yet it is not about sacrificing myself for the other but bringing the whole of me, showing up to the plate, taking on a responsible role and not waiting for others to do what needs to be done. As a species it means accepting our role as the keepers of the planet who have dominion over it and not power over it.
We are the Spirit in form on the earth. If this is so, what is it that we each as individuals need to bring forth ? There is a need for responsibility and inclusiveness. How can we each serve that now?
Perhaps one of our weaknesses, as a species , is that we think we have power and control. Watching that Tsunami we must all agree that there is no doubt we cannot have control.
How can we move with the flow of Life as it is moving through us and our world so that we serve the highest good in all things?
Is it even conceivable that the people of Japan made an enormous unconscious sacrifice as a country, so that the level of awareness and consciousness could rise, so that hearts could be opened?
How will we respond? Will we shut down and go back to our little lives or will we heed the cry for help and open our hearts and minds to more compassion and care for every living thing, for the earth herself as she adjusts to her own internal pressures.
It is easy to say all this from my relatively safe and intact life but I can never be the same again. I have witnessed huge devastation, a cellular reminder of past dramatic and catastrophic events and I remember that all that matters in the end is Love.
RIGHTS OF PASSAGE IN A CHANGING WORLD
An Astrological viewpoint
Having an Astrological chart reading done by a professional is a Right of Passage in itself. It opens the door, not only to your potential, but to a more authentic YOU.
During our lives there are many times and experiences that could be called a Right of Passage. Birth is the first one and its impact and its effect on us is sometimes underestimated. It is a transition from one world to another and its experience colours the way we interact with the world and how we initiate or begin all manner of things from then on.
Death too, is a Right of Passage, a transition from this world to another state of being. I don’t look for death in a chart but am mindful of the need to prepare for it both internally and externally.
All our lives we experience various Rights of Passage at particular ages, bodily or hormonal changes and even the smaller ones like from sleep to wakefulness, literally as well as metaphorically.
How prepared are we for these changes, these transitions in our lives?
If we are able to work consciously with them we have the opportunity to see the potential in the moment.
What can we do to make the most of the moments and life cycles and how do we prepare to meet them and really be with them as they unfold. How can we be present now, in the moment?
Perhaps by honouring the moment, recognizing that, while we might have some idea of what it might hold, for the most part each one is a mystery. Each holds a potential as yet unexplored and in each of them there is choice. We are able to influence them by our choices, able to consciously choose how we will respond and how we will act. Having some knowledge and understanding of the nature of the moments allows us to make conscious and constructive choices and for that reason reading the chart helps in this process.
Life is a sacred journey. We go through many changes and experiences that expand our consciousness ultimately, hopefully, into a fuller realization of our true nature, our true potential in the world we find ourselves in at this time.
So many people tell me that they have a strong sense of destiny, as if they know that they came here to do something, but they don’t know what it is. I personally believe there IS a purpose for each of us. I think it is to consciously unfold more and more of our true nature, like a bud unfolding into a flower, and that the world is changed by our unfolding consciousness. That implies that the field of consciousness we live in is actually impacted by each of us probably in ways we have yet to understand. How much more of an impact there can be is surely determined by how conscious we are of who and what we have to offer.
Looking back at the end of our lives, we may see how many opportunities have been lost and in a way, given the consciousness on the planet, that is inevitable, however, consciously choosing to explore our true being, to open our consciousness, may help to minimize that feeling. There may be nothing quite as satisfying in seeing the positive impact you have had in the world.
Each part of the Astrological Chart holds a key position in your particular life. Each contributes to a whole that invites living your life to the full. Your experience of these planets and the positions they hold changes throughout your life. How you experienced them in your youth evolves into fuller experience as you age. This is as it should be. The wounds of the past shape and form us and often inform the shape and purpose of our being. We understand the experience of our wounds better than anyone else and thus like Chiron (See footnote) we become experts on that particular wound in ourselves and others. It becomes second nature to live with that wound. Our work on the planet often includes that very wound in some way, directly or indirectly. Embracing the wound makes us more effective compassionate human beings and can allow us to find a particular place in the world that is uniquely ours. Living life to the full no matter what the circumstance we find ourselves in, is a constant challenge. It is hard work to be fully conscious all the time, but with practice no doubt it gets easier but it is not for the feint hearted. Being conscious is the gift if we choose it and making a difference in our sphere of influence comes out of that passionate place of living fully true to ourselves.
Chiron: “……at it’s very core lies the issue of the meaning which our personal suffering may eventually yield up to us, and which roots us firmly in the soil of our own lives” Melanie Reinhart
